Cass is a mixed bag as far as personality goes. She is torn between her own habits and the way she needs to act to preserve what is most important to her. Cass herself is a reckless dare devil. She loves an adrenaline rush more than just about anything at the moment. Throw a challenge her way and she will almost certainly take it on, whether it’s taking a gulp of an unlabeled potion, or scaling the castle and trying to make it to the roof. She has a written record of all of her daring pursuits as well, since she writes just about everything down.
While Cass may be reckless herself, she is very protective of her younger sister. This is due to their family history and Ari’s blindness. She is very wary people with whom she is not familiar, and won’t hesitate to tell off someone who she sees as a threat. This makes it difficult for her to connect with new people, or at least makes it a much longer process generally. With those she is familiar with she is warm and laid back.

Cass was born in Bristol, England. She was the oldest child of Evie and Victor Bellamy. Victor Bellamy was a member of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and he was rising quickly in the ranks. Unfortunately, he was killed during a raid shortly after Ari was born. They struggled to make ends meet, and Evangeline worked odd jobs. About two years later she remarried a man with money , and it seemed like their problems were solved.
Bismark Gibbon turned out to have a nasty mean streak in him. He liked order and quiet, which his son was accustomed to but his two step daughters were not. There were a series of small incidents and conflicts which made family life difficult and tense. Cass not only clashed with her step father but with her step brother as well. He considered them to be an unwelcome intrusion into his life. The conflict reached a peak when Corvin, then 12 years old, shoved an 9 year old Ari down the stairs. The incident left Ari blind.
The girls tried to keep to themselves after that, until Cass got her letter to Hogwarts. She was anxious to leave Ari for a year, but things turned out ok in the end. The next year Ari also joined her at Hogwarts. Since then Cass has found herself and some good friends at school.
