A war rages and Pern is falling apart. Benden has grown stronger and controls most of the Northern Continent. Fort makes a futile attempt to stay strong and hold to what they have left. But it isn't Fort Weyr that shows the threat. Oh no, it is the secret rebel Weyr that has grown and flowered in the tundra of the wastelands. Novus Weyr began in bloodshed and theft. They have hidden for so long to protect the remaining true riders, not those that work under the crimes of Benden Weyr. They thought they were safe. They thought the harsh conditions of their lands would keep them safe forever. Now they have grown large and word is spreading quickly that this Weyr exists rather than mere tales shared by crechemothers.

Thread is ready to fall again. Benden is preparing an attack. Fort Weyr, Southern Weyr, and various secret groups reach out to Novus Weyr as if they are saviors of their dying societies. Can one Weyr, raised in secrecy and born from the darkest of weyrfolk, truly stand up to defeat Benden?

Only time will tell at Novus Weyr.
